Corn has greater raw moisture and uneven maturity. Corn is located in the north of China's main producing areas. It was cold at harvest time. Also, the ears of corn have leaves and the plants don't have enough sun-drying, so the corn's raw moisture is usually higher. The moisture content of newly harvested corn is generally 15-20% in North China and 20-30% in Northeast China and Inner Mongolia. Maize maturity is usually not very uniform because the top and base of the same ear are pollinated at different times, resulting in insufficient seed maturity at the top. Unevenly matured corn is not conducive to safe storage.
